Meritocratic and Situationally Adaptive Organizational Structure.  

AWE Communities uses a meritocratic model based upon Situationally Adaptive Organizational structures and principles.  Situationally Adaptive Organizations (“SAOs”) use whole-systems approaches and integrated governance models that include the best of capitalism, communalism, democracy, committee, biomimicry, expert hierarchy, service management, nuclear, flat, conical, networked, chaordic, adhocracy and collective.  This provides AWE Communities with an array of functionally adaptable tools that optimally address circumstances as they arise.

 

An active working AWE Member’s contribution will be based, whenever possible, on objective standards of performance rather than just time spent. However, the target is to require no more than 25 hours per week for community services to support the basic needs of water, food, shelter, energy, health care/wellness, basic clothing, education, basic group insurance and access to other community amenities. After fulfilling the 25 hour per week guidelines members may, at their option, (1) do extra work for the community and receive internal barter currency to purchase additional community products and services, (2) engage in their own entrepreneurial endeavors or additional employment for globally traded currency to enhance their lifestyle and options, or (3) enjoy free time with family, friends and for leisurely pursuits.
